The mobile space we are focused on includes any transportation vehicle or stationary diesel generator, anywhere in the world, that utilizes an internal combustion engine. Heavy emission emitters - trucks, ships and railway lines in this space are being heavily penalized per government regulations as well as European Union and Kyoto Protocol requirements by not meeting emission targets. Major cities in North America and China are among the worst offenders for smog and pollution in the world. The quantum speed and advanced rate industrialization is growing now globally is creating an unprecedented amount of pollution and emissions. The more obvious challenges to large and small corporations and consumers everywhere are rising fuel costs that inflate the costs of goods for consumers and impact the bottom lines of corporations.
Furthermore, millions of existing high polluting trucks and trains will not be replaced or discarded with new low polluting and more fuel-efficient units anytime soon. The high emission output vehicles will be with us for years to come and these vehicles need a lower cost solution to high gas prices and emission reduction without replacing the vehicle. |

The terms greenhouse gases (GHGs) and emissions, are generally used to describe gases that have a damaging impact on how the atmosphere filters the effects of the suns light & heat. Increasing GHGs impact the ozone layer, as well as trap more heat and hold it near the earth’s surface thus raising global temperature faster then nature intended. Even a degree or two increase in global temperature over short periods of time can change weather patterns fast. Scientists have noted that glaciers are dissolving faster, polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, sea levels are increasing, rain forests are becoming drier, the Sahara desert is expanding, and some wildlife is having difficulty adjusting to the changes. It has become apparent that human technological innovations, industrialization, and fossil fuel usage are the basis of the majority of the increased heat-trapping GHG’s. Most industrialized nations have enacted environmental initiatives to decrease greenhouse gases, most of which are generated from oil based, fossil fuel emissions. The Kyoto Protocol treaty, negotiated December 1997 in Kyoto Japan, and enacted February 2005 by the European Union and other nations, outlines a plan for reduction of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. The new regulations modeled after the Kyoto treaty offers businesses incentives and in some cases, actual government subsidies for companies going “Green”.
